This week's verse and blog questions...

First things first...the memory work for this week is:

Matthew 28:19 - Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

This is the first part of what we call the Great Commission.  We will memorize the next verse next week.  It is the last recorded instructions given by Christ (a resurrected Christ!!) to his disciples.  Matthew's version is probably the most famous.  See if you can find it in any of the other gospels.

And this week's blog question is:

Let's see how many DIFFERENT lessons you can pick out from the Easter story.  There are hundreds.  Everyone blog me AT LEAST one!   To start it off, here are a couple...
1.  Should I forgive? (Luke 23:34  Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know not what they are doing.")
2.  What to do when your friends desert you.  (As in the garden of Gethsemane, turn to God in prayer because he will never desert you.)
3.  Now it's your turn - Go!

  2. One thing I learned from the Easter Story was that Jesus was bothered by peoples' actions, but he dealt with it the right way. The Pharisees were hypocrites, and that obviously annoyed Jesus. Although it may have angered him, he used paribles to explain his feelings about them.

  3. Ian Mallard and Sarah Heady:
Don't make promises you can't keep. Peter disowning Jesus.
Jesus knows all. Jesus and the rabbis, Jesus and Judas.
    You can't break Jesus' spirit.
Jesus always stays true to the scriptures.
The impossible is possible with God.
Jesus helps the less fortunate before the rich.
    Don't betray you're friends.
Some people will do anything for money.
The soul is stronger than your body.
Jesus doesn't support violence even when he's on the receiving end.
Stay true to what you believe.
Don't be afraid of persecution, God will be with you always.

  4. Although Jesus is almighty and rules over us controling our world and our lives he still gets scared sometimes and feels emotions. In the garden Jesus asked God if this cup could be passed from him but also said that he knows God has the final say. We should mimick Jesus do what God tells us no matter how difficult we believe it is Jesusmade the ultimate sacrifice for us.

  6. From this story i learned that jesus really had real feelings. before i read it, i thought of him as this angelic perfect person. now i know he got mad and felt pain also. i could now imagine him walking around town and just being a normal person.

  7. A lesson I learned from the Easter store is that Jesus will do anything for us and that Jesus is fearless and brave and we should be too. Even if we don't want to do something, we should if God wants us to.

  9. When Jesus went to go pray in the garden, he asked the disciples to stay awake. When he came back the disciples were asleep. He was disappointed, and the only person he could turn to was God. This part of the Easter Story taught me that when your friends abandone you, you can always turn to God.

  10. Jesus can feel everything we do so he can truly say I know how you feel. Another lesson is that even if you are angry you need to exercise forgiveness and not let your anger control you.

  11. In the Easter story I learned Forgivness. Forgivness is probibly one of the most taught story in the easter story. God forgave us and took are sins on the cross so that we could have eterneal life. this taught me that we should forgive eache others. THen in the garden of gasename god turned to god and asked him to not have to take are sins but he left it in gods hadnds not his own when he could have easly not had to die for us. I learned that I have to put everthing in gods hands.

  12. If you belive in God anything can happen just like when Jesus curses the fig tree. Also when Jesus died the earth rumbled because the scripture had come to pass.
