Nice job! Here's another one...

Nice job on the last verse.  I wrote a comment at the end because though you all dug up some interesting facts, one group was confused on the time period.  Please check it out.

This week's verse is Joshua 1:9(a).  The (a) on there means the first part of the verse...we are going through the word discouraged this week and we will memorize the rest of it next week.  (I am being nice to you because it is long!)  Here is the first half:

Joshua 1:9 (a)  Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and courageous.  Do not be terrified.  Do not be discouraged...

MY FACT:  Look back at the first of this chapter.  You know who is speaking?  God to Joshua as he takes over after Moses's death  WOW!  Just for fun, if anyone can come to class and tell me who buried Moses, it is worth some extra credit.  Hmmm...

  1. “Have I not commanded you.” It’s the source of the command and the promises. The "I" refers to Yahweh.

  2. In Joshua 1:9a the question: Have I not commanded you? was actually meant to be rhetorical and emphasize the importance of the speaker, which is God. This verse also tells us that although we may be faced in life with difficult and uneasy tasks that are far from our comfort zone, we need to know and remember that God is always there with us and will give us the confidence and strength we need. We don't need to be terrified or discouraged because of something that happens in our lives. God is always in control and everything he allows to happen is for a reason. God wants us to fully trust in him everyday in every situation.
Oh, and also about the poll you had us vote on. I enjoy reading about Esther.:)
